| Our daughter, Amy Stewart Bunten, is our fiber artist. She knits sweaters, vests, hats and scarves from 100% alpaca yarn which she handspins. The luxurious look and feel of these garments is unrivaled. She keeps some items in stock for people wanting something immediately, but most of her work is done on a custom order basis. Interesting Facts About Alpaca Fiber |
||||
|
Alpaca is a hollow core fiber. Unlike many
wool products, alpaca fiber "breathes." Therefore, it does not
trap in body heat which is what makes so many sweaters
uncomfortably hot. Alpaca fiber does not have lanolin. Since
there is no lanolin, harsh chemicals are not required to clean
it. Alpacas do not have guard hair. These qualities make
alpaca soft and comfortable to wear, not itchy!! Many people
who cannot wear wool can wear alpaca. Try it! |
